The Charka
The wheel, small accelerator wheel, and spindle all run on ball-bearings.
The wheel diameter of the charka is 10in.
Woods generally used are Texas mesquite (when available), oak, cherry, black walnut, and pecan.
Each wheel is finished with hand rubbed Danish oil.
The Charka is designed with an accelerator head. With the ratio being 22:1, higher ratios are available, it is much faster than a direct drive Charka.
The Charka is the oldest spinning wheel made dating back to over 1000 years.
